Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia
Review
We could not have started the SIFAS festivals’ Esplanade shows any better. Panditji and his group, especially Vijay Ghate were excellent on
stage and they were mesmerizing the audience. I would also like to thank the event management team for a job well done
– Dalip Puri – Chairman, Festival Committee.

Pandit Chaurasia’s performance was excellent. He had a good choice of ragas. The show was very well organized and well delivered. Audience were very happy and gave Panditji and his team a standing ovation. The show was well appreciated by everyone.

The Esplanade portion of the 6th SIFAS festival got off to a scintillating start in the august presence of His Excellency President S R Nathan. The
magical bamboo flute of Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia brought the audience to a standing ovation. Bageshri was the main piece, in which he
played his characteristic gatkari style raga development of alap, jor and jhala followed by a medium paced gat in rupak taal. Chandrakauns
was a lovely complementary piece, a haunting melody so beautifully suited to this wind instrument. A short Hamsadhwani gat in teentaal
and the Hariji classic Pahadi dhun with the shift to the piccolo flute towards the end brought the concert to a fantastic end and left the audience wanting more
